Final Fantasy 15: Should be developed by Eidos Montreal at some point

Eidos Montreal, the development studio behind Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, and Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy, was originally slated to develop Final Fantasy 15.

This is from a new one interview with Eidos Montreal’s former art director Jonathan Jacque-Belletête.

Brought back to Japan

“[Eidos Montréal] brought Deus Ex back,” he says. “I was the art director on Deus Ex: Human Revolution. then [war ich] the executive art director at Mankind Divided. Then we tried to do Final Fantasy 15.”

“Then has [Square Enix] decided, [FF15] back to Japan which I think was a big mistake but it’s still the truth. Ours was very, very cool.”

Unfortunately, Jacque-Belletête does not give any further details about Eidos Montreal’s vision for Final Fantasy 15 in the interview.

He is now working at the Rogue Factor development studio, where he is working on a new IP called Hell is Us.

Eidos Montreal, meanwhile, was recently sold by publisher Square Enix to Embracer Group along with Crystal Dynamics and Square Enix Montreal, as well as brands Tomb Raider, Deus Ex and many others.
