Gord: Dark Fantasy City-Building Survival coming soon to Steam
Gord, a dark city-building survival game inspired by Slavic folklore, awaits its 2022 release. Outside the settlement, meanwhile, dark horrors and hostile creatures lurk for the settlers, and the player must also take care of their sanity.
Gord is an interesting mix of city building and survival genres and is set in a very somber dark fantasy setting. The Polish studio Covenant, which was founded by former CD project producer Stan Just, is responsible for this. The indie game is scheduled to appear exclusively on Steam in 2022, which is why we want to briefly introduce it here again.
Gord: Ensure the survival of your own settlement in a gloomy world
In Gord you take over the leadership of a human tribe, which you have to lead into the forbidden lands. According to the developers, this dark fantasy world was inspired by Slavic folklore. In this hostile world you must now build your own settlement and protect it from the dangers of the outside world with wooden palisades. Because from outside, hostile tribes, monstrous creatures or mysterious forces threaten the peace of the settlement.
A quest system controlled by an AI gamemaster constantly sends the player into the wilderness to complete challenges there. In addition to the main quest, procedurally generated side quests and random encounters await the player. In the wilderness outside of the settlement, you then have to hunt legendary creatures, uncover secrets about ancient beings or defeat nasty threats, for example.
The survival aspect of Gord also extends to the sanity of its own population – HP Lovecraft sends his regards. Should there be too many stressful events for a settler, such as illness, starvation, death of loved ones, or otherworldly horrors, they will collapse and might even flee the village. As already mentioned, Gord is scheduled to be released later this year. There is no specific release date.
