Star Wars Obi-Wan Kenobi: Ewan McGregor had a hard time going back to being a Jedi
At the Friday returns cast member Ewan McGregor in his famous role as Obi Wan Kenobi back at Disney+. At the press conference to launch the Star Wars Series the actor shared insights into how he prepared for filming. He admitted that initially he difficulties had, the Voice of the Jedi to find again.
Obi-Wan Kenobi needed some training
“There were two things I had to work on. [Lichtschwerter] and his voice. We have test shots with different actors […] made and those were the first things I did as Obi-Wan since 2003 did again. […] Then when we recorded the actual scenes with the actors, I was terrified. It was not remotely the voice of Obi-Wan. I just said, ‘Oh dear… that’s not very good.'” – said Ewan McGregor at the press conference.
The actor also said that he slipped into an outfit of his character for the first time during the test shots: “I walked into the locker room and there was this Obi-Wan-like costumethe the [Mandalorian-Crew] made. Wearing it after all this time was really crazy. Walking onto the set afterwards was even crazier. There are so many Star Wars fans on the crew, which was a whole new experience for me.”
Ewan McGregor has done his homework
With several months between test recording and actual filming of Obi-Wan Kenobi, Ewan McGregor used the time to rediscover the voice of the legendary Jedi. The trailers recently released by Disney have shown that he succeeded. At the start of Obi-Wan Kenobi there is one double episode. After that, it continues with a weekly rhythm with an episode.
