Like The Mandalorian: Andor seasons 1 and 2 make up one book

Disney has confirmed that Star Wars: Andor is structured similarly as The Mandalorian. The first two seasons make up a novel, which in turn means that the plots of season 1 and season 2 are directly related. But why is this important?

A while ago there were rumors that this was the case not a completed series acts. Many more are good several seasons in planning.

Disney has Andor season 2 officially confirmed in the meantime. So Andor will get at least two seasons. And now the showrunner has spoken again.

Star Wars: Andor Season 1 and Season 2 are one book

There will be at least two seasons and the 2nd season was parallel to the 1st season developed. As showrunner Tony Gilroy explains now, the first result 12 episodes of season 1 one half of a story and the other 12 episodes of Season 2 form the direct counterpart.

So we can look forward to a total of 24 episodes Captain Cassian Andor (Diego Luna) be happy. Gilroy explains to Vanity Fair:

“Even though it’s a second season, it’s really like a novel to me. The first season is about him (Andor) and how he becomes a rebel. And the second 12 episodes take him towards Rogue One.”

That certainly implies getting to know Andor and the imperial security droids K-2SOwhich is currently still not played by Alan Tudyk will:

“We don’t have Alan Tudyk on board. At least not yet.”

That statement sounds less set in stone, and if we’re lucky, that’ll change again by the time the second season starts filming.

There is one for that Reunion with Mon Mothma (Genevieve O’Reilly). According to the showrunner, she will appear in Season 1, but her paths with Andor are not expected to cross until later, in or towards Season 2:

“Diego is in the middle (of the ensemble) and Genevieve is in the middle of another part of it. They overlap. […] They have a crossroads – but they don’t meet. They won’t meet until the second half.”
