Motorola has confirmed the release date for its first smartphone with a 200-megapixel main camera. The device is expected to be released in July. So far, Motorola has not revealed the name or other specs of the smartphone. Leaks and rumors already give a first impression.

As Android Authority reported, Motorola has confirmed the existence of its 200-megapixel smartphone and even named a launch date. On the Chinese social media platform Weibo the company announced “a new benchmark for photo quality” and ended the post with the words “by July”. Whether this is the worldwide release date or just the launch in China is not clear from the post.

So far, Motorola has not revealed any information about other hardware specs and has not even revealed the official name of the smartphone. But some information is already there known through leaks. So the smartphone should bear the name Motorola Frontier. In addition to the 200-megapixel main camera, a 50-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera and a 12-megapixel telephoto camera are said to be installed. Samsung’s Isocell HP1 is to be used as the camera sensor. The resolution of the selfie camera is probably 60 megapixels.

According to rumors, the Motorola Frontier should offer 8 to 12 GB of RAM, have a 6.67-inch OLED display with 144 Hertz and rely on the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Plus. Motorola could have already teased the processor, at least Weibo the company recently announced a smartphone with Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Plus. Theoretically, the Razr 3 could also be meant, on which Motorola is also said to be working.
