Beloved Capcom gaming fossil could be coming to PS Classics
Barely two months ago, Sony finally unveiled PlayStation Plus Extra: the expansion of its own online service, considered by many to be “Game Pass Competition” titled, including three price levels and lots of new and especially old games. First on June 23rd the new service starts with us, the USA can at least play on June 13th and in Asia (excluding Japan) players have been able to enjoy PS Plus Extra for a few days.
Part of the new service, at least if you sign up for the Premium membership for 119.99 euros decides a year are also classic games from Sony’s previous consoles. In order to tempt players to choose the more expensive option, there are of course corresponding advertising banners in the store – but one of them shows one game fossilwhich is not yet available in the games collection!
Is Dino Crisis making a return thanks to PS Plus Classics?
We’re talking about Capcom’s PlayStation 1 classic dinosaur crisis, the adventure of Resident Evil legend Shinji Mikami released in 1999. Since a second part appeared in 2000, players have been waiting in vain for a new offshoot, or at least one remake of the original, which is why some fans are already working on a remake in Unreal Engine 4 themselves.
With the retro collection of PlaystationPlus but there is at least hope that we will soon be able to play the original from 1999 on modern consoles. It is not yet part of the PS Classics and therefore not yet playable or announced in Asia either, but an advertising banner in the PS store clearly points to a possible return of Dino Crisis.
As shared on Twitter by some Asian players, including the user Bob Chensince the launch of PS Plus Extra in Asia, the PlayStation Plus Classics collection will feature the redhead Regina advertised, her character protagonist of Dino Crisis. Why would Sony dig up this icon of gaming history if Dino Crisis isn’t also coming to PS Classics in the near future?
As there has been no official confirmation on the part of Sony we can only hope that this is actually a clever promotion and not a mistake. Sadly, even if Dino Crisis does come, like many other PS1 games, it may only be playable in PAL even if you’re in an NSTC region. Regrettable!
