WoW: A new HD mouse pointer - but only one! - makes you smile

from Susan Brown
Was there a new meme born with WoW Patch 9.2.5? The WoW developers state in the patch notes of the update that a new standard cursor with new graphics in higher resolution is available. But only one! A WoW fan shows how funny this looks in the game.

World of Warcraft developers are constantly working to make online role-playing games more accessible to all types of players. This also includes the fact that they offer different color schemes for WoW fans who suffer from various color blindness.

Or they offer UI elements in a larger size so that all can be clearly seen when the player’s field of vision is somewhat restricted. The following is happening with WoW Patch 9.2.5: “Under Interface Options → Accessibility you will now find the standard cursor with new graphics in higher resolution for larger sizes.” What exactly does that mean?

A new mouse pointer. We repeat: ONE!

The devs may have born a new meme with the introduction of a new default cursor, as WoW fan Grayvves did on the World of Warcraft subreddit (buy now ) with a short video and a long wink.

When Patch 9.2.5 lands on the servers on June 1st, 2022, under Accessibility you can increase the size of the mouse pointer up to 128×128 pixels, but then only the standard cursor will be displayed in HD graphics. All other mouse pointers, such as hovering over a quest giver or over an NPC with a salutation function, are displayed in their best, low quality.

Given that the WoW devs of User interface with WoW: Dragonflight a major overhaul donate, it can be assumed that the standard HD mouse pointer was simply pre-made and ready for testing. The other cursors will certainly follow. But this small feature change is always funny.
