Large Twitch streamer films in the football stadium despite fan anger: “I’ve never split people so much”
Maximilian “Trymacs” Stemmler is very successful on Twitch and YouTube, but always causes discussions. There was a lot of trouble in connection with the football game Hamburger SV against Hertha BSC – because in the run-up to the game, Trymacs drew the anger of some fans with a ticket call.
Who is the person you are talking about? Trymacs is one of the most successful Twitch streamers ever. The 27-year-old is active in all sorts of categories: from Clash of Clans to GTA Online RP and opening Pokémon card packs, everything is included.
Trymacs finds many fans with his easy-going manner, but also has his critics – for example because he invested a lot of money in FIFA packs.
When it comes to events, Trymacs is also in demand. For example, he boxed against his streamer colleague MckyTV, which brought many viewers, but also an injured wrist. He also plans to put together his own football team in the summer.
However, some fans didn’t want to see him at another event: the Bundesliga relegation match between Hamburger SV and Hertha BSC.
Ticket call brings trouble – big discussion about visiting the stadium
What was the problem? In the run-up to Hamburger SV’s second leg against Hertha BSC, Trymacs announced that he wanted to buy tickets for the game – and offered 400 euros each. He also wanted to make a VLOG from the stadium.
However, this did not meet with any reciprocity from some fans: there was sometimes heavy criticism on social media for the call by football fans.
Bidding so much money for tickets fuels the black market and would deprive real fans of the chance to come to the stadium. Anyway, Trymacs is out of place as a content creator, who isn’t really there because of the game, but only because of the video.
Why was this game so important? The game was about promotion to the Bundesliga for HSV, while Hertha BSC wanted to avoid relegation to the 2nd division – so a damn important game. As a fan, this is one of those games that people talk about for years.
The demand for tickets is correspondingly high – and it quickly happens that tickets are also offered at crazy prices. A fitting comparison might be the problem with the PS5 scalpers, who keep securing lots of consoles and then making a profit from them while “normal” consumers look into the tube.
In football, too, the potential of such a situation is comparable, if not a little stronger, especially with such important games, because many football fans have an extremely strong emotional bond with their club. In addition, some also differentiate between “real fans” and “event visitors” – i.e. people who are there with body and soul and people who only come to the stadium as a means to an end.
It’s not necessarily well received when someone publicly offers a lot of money to get tickets.
This is how Trymacs reacted: Trymacs reported on the subject in two videos on YouTube – in both he speaks of a “shitstorm” from HSV fans.
Many fans are “really angry,” he says, and also shows tweets in which, for example, the hashtag “Against influencers in the stadium” is used. There it is said that Trymacs is not wanted in the stadium, which sometimes leads to very heated discussions.
Trymacs himself comments that he used to be in HSV summer camps himself, had a season ticket and followed HSV’s promotion campaign: “And now I’m banned from the stadium because I’m a YouTuber,” says Trymacs (via YouTube).
He compares this with other subjects where he has had similar experiences. The first time Minecraft, Minecraft fans were angry, with GTA-RP some GTA fans and boxing, from the point of view of some people, he shouldn’t either: “I want to play FIFA for the first time, I get a FIFA ban because someone has been since 2004 FIFA plays. It’s the same in every game.”
He just didn’t expect a similar anger in football. He likes to trigger people, but this time he didn’t want to.
How viewers react: The YouTube comments contain opinions from both sides. Some think it’s good that Trymacs wants to go to the stadium – and also support the VLOG. You can at least experience something of the atmosphere when you’re not there yourself. HSV fans have also come forward, saying they couldn’t share the hatred, especially since he also had points of contact with HSV.

Others, on the other hand, find that influencers shouldn’t be there if they have absolutely nothing to do with the club, because there are many fans who simply feel more about it. The fact that you go to a “final” like that, but not before, doesn’t come off well.
That’s how it all turned out
In the end, despite the criticism, Trymacs ended up with the game, which he recorded in the VLOG as announced:
Together with MckyTV and his brother, Trymacs was out and about in Hamburg’s Volksparkstadion to watch the game live on site and to take away a bit of the fan atmosphere.
Right at the beginning of the video he goes into the controversy again:
People had very heated discussions, you can see that here too. I’ve never divided people so much. There are so many people who are happy that I am doing a VLOG and want photos with me. Super cool. The others keep shouting “son of a bitch” and throwing garbage. That’s definitely the contrast.
How did the tickets go? In the video Trymacs explains that in the end he didn’t buy any tickets – instead he got them through a contact, which is why Micky was there too. “Was it a failure that I said I want to buy expensive tickets,” he says.
The video then shows how Trymacs moves through the stadium, interacts with fans, destroys one or the other can of beer and ultimately stands in the curve.
During the game, the streamer is still convinced that HSV would still manage to get promoted to the Bundesliga despite being behind. In the end, however, it didn’t come to that – Hertha BSC won the game and held the class.
When it comes to gaming, football keeps popping up – through FIFA, but also in other places: For example, a football coach played Football Manager so much that it helped his career.
