Please note that you will not be able to play The Quarry in online co-op at launch

The Quarry is playable in couch co-op and solo, but online multiplayer is a bit later.

If you want to play The Quarry right at launch on June 10th, be aware that online co-op will not be available then. You can play the horror fun of Supermassive Games alone in single player mode or together in couch co-op, but online multiplayer is still missing. It will only be submitted a few weeks later, as the developer studio has now announced.

The Quarry: Online multiplayer comes with a delay

That’s what it’s about: The Quarry is the latest horror title from Supermassive Games, coming June 10th for PS4, Xbox One, PS5 and Xbox Series S/X. The release is on time, but we’ll have to wait a little longer than we thought for a popular feature: online co-op won’t be available until July 8th – almost a month later.

Apparently, the game then returns to Until Dawn’s trashy horror-cliche fest. As usual, it’s about keeping as many characters alive through your decisions (or exactly the opposite) and mastering Quicktime Events. You can find out exactly what awaits you in The Quarry in our GamePro preview read:

Why the delay? In a statement from the developer studio, Supermassive Games explains that online multiplayer will be delayed in order to provide the “best possible experience” for players. Apparently playing together online doesn’t work as it should. But at least you can play the movie mode, the single player campaign and also the couch co-op right after the release of The Quarry. In times of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, the online co-op for the launch would of course have been very welcome.
