After the development of Stalker 2 – Heart of Chornobyl by the Kyiv-based studio GSC Game World was initially put on hold for security reasons due to the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine, the developers confirmed a few days ago on their official Discord channel that work on the post-apocalypse open-world shooter were resumed.

There is said to have been at least a partial relocation of the studio to Prague in the Czech Republic, and there are also said to have been further contacts with partners and other studios in neighboring countries. This has been confirmed by Czech gaming website Vortex as well as by developers at Ashborne Games and CBD Software.

As early as March, GSC Game World decided, in addition to temporarily halting development, to change the title of the game from the original Russian to the preferred Ukrainian spelling.

Even if work on Stalker 2 has now been resumed with the help of external studios, the previously targeted release period of December 2022 is unlikely to be possible due to the postponements and the current difficult situation for the studio.
