Sony is planning TV series for Horizon, God of War and Gran Turismo
In the course of the last investor call, those responsible for Sony presented their plans for the area of TV adaptations. Three more IPs are to be expanded with new streaming series: Horizon, God of War and Gran Turismo!
Sony has a number of strong brands in the games sector that have not been present in other media at all for far too long. Examples show that this will change in the future like the Uncharted movie or the Series based on The Last of Us currently in production for HBO becomes. During a Q&A session during the recent investor call, Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO and President Jim Ryan reportedly revealed that those efforts will be stepped up in the future (via IGN).
Big names, big plans
Specifically, three major franchises were named for which Sony would like to implement TV adaptations: A series based on the universe of Horizon Zero Dawn and Horizon Forbidden West is to be created on Netflix. Sony is planning a God of War series for Amazon Prime. A separate show is also to be created for the Gran Turismo racing game series, although no platform has yet been named.
It is remarkable how wide Sony spreads its productions. Last of Us for HBO, Horizon for Netflix, God of War for Amazon, Uncharted for cinema. Then there’s also the live-action series for Twisted Metal, which was confirmed for Peacock in February (via IGN). Now another Killzone series for Apple TV+ and an animated Jack and Daxter show for Disney+ and Sony is actually dancing at all the parties.
Incidentally, two other large gaming IPs are currently being adapted for Amazon in series form: the makers of Westworld are working on one Fallout series and also for Mass Effect wants its own show come. Which of the TV adaptations are you looking forward to the most? Or does Sony’s announcement leave you cold? Tell us in the comments!
