Freezing bananas: This is how you preserve the delicious fruit

Bananas are difficult to process if they are frozen in one piece.

Does it often happen to you that the bananas in your fruit basket are either too green for a smoothie or almost black? Freeze bananas – that’s the solution! In this way, you always have the delicious fruit for desserts, drinks, etc. at hand in the right consistency.

So the next time you go shopping, ignore the green bananas and grab the ripe to overripe specimens with the first black dots. Very important: First cut into pieces

First you peel the bananas as usual, but instead of going directly to the refrigerator, the fruit first goes onto the cutting board. Cut each banana into slices 2 to 5 centimeters wide. There are two reasons for this: on the one hand, the bananas can be better portioned after freezing, and on the other hand, you can take them yourself even the best blenders or food processors have a hard time with a banana frozen in one piece. Place the banana pieces individually on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. This tray should fit in your freezer, because that’s where the lined up banana slices should end up.

Freezing bananas: Therefore, it is essential to do them individually

You find it impractical to freeze a whole tray? You’re not wrong, but this method has a reason. If the banana chunks are simply frozen in a freezer bag or Tupperware, they will stick together, then freeze and cannot be used individually later.

But don’t worry, the metal doesn’t have to be there permanently freezer stay. After the banana slices are frozen, you can transfer them to a freezer bag or a freezer-safe Tupperware and put them back in the freezer or the freezer compartment. If you like to prepare everything in advance, you can freeze bananas in portions – just as much as is needed for the smoothie in the morning.
