AMD: Hints of Radeon RX 6700 with 10 GB of memory surfaced

from Rhonda Bachman
According to reports, AMD is preparing to launch a new graphics card. It is said to be a Radeon RX 6700 with 10 gigabytes of memory. Two new images from board partner Sapphire have surfaced to accompany the rumour.

As the French media site Cowcotland reports, AMD may be planning to introduce a new graphics card. It should be a Radeon RX 6700 without the well-known abbreviation XT and also a slimmed down version of the well-known Radeon RX 6700 XT.

New graphics card already on June 9th?

The French website has also published images of two possible graphics cards from AMD’s board partner Sapphire. It is said to be a Sapphire Radeon RX 6700 Pulse and another, unnamed Sapphire Radeon RX 6700. While the AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT has 2,560 cores, the possible RX 6700 should only have 36 activated processing units for a total of 2,304 cores. The performance would thus be comparable to the mobile Radeon RX 6700M, which was released in 2020.

The new model should also be equipped with a narrower 160-bit memory bus and use 10 gigabytes of GDDR6 memory – the 6700 XT uses 12 MiB, the RX 6600 (X) has 8 GiB. Both cards reported by Cowcotland are said to have dual-slot and dual-fan designs and are each clocked at 2,330 megahertz and 2,495 megahertz for games and boost respectively. The memory operates at a speed of 16 gigabits per second, which translates to a bandwidth of 320 gigabytes per second.

The other technical specifications of the two models should also be similar. However, the two cards should have slightly different cooling systems. According to Cowcotland, the two models should go on sale on June 9, 2022 and will be available at prices starting at 569 euros.
