Warhammer 40K: Boltgun: Crude retro shooter announced

The big Warhammer event “Skulls 2022” had it all: The fans were allowed to talk about lots of announcements and fresh information about their favorite brand. Highlights included the unveiling of Rogue Trader, a true cRPG from the Pathfinder developers. But Baller fans should also get their money’s worth again soon: Next year, Boltgun, a flawless first-person shooter in the Warhammer 40,000 universe, will be released. The game has so far been announced as a pure single-player title, so do not expect a multiplayer mode. In Boltgun you control a heavily armed Space Marine and take on evil Chaos Space Marines and all sorts of Chaos demons. The action game counts itself among the so-called “boomer shooters” and deliberately wants to remind you of the great shooters from the 90s with its reduced retro aesthetics. You can get a first taste of the presentation (which, by the way, reminds us a lot of Prodeus) in the nicely made trailer, which also shows a few action-packed game scenes in its last few seconds. On Steam you can Reserve Boltgun already.

The modern Unreal Engine works under the deliberately simple look, and the developers also promise smooth, contemporary shooter gameplay. Boltgun is being developed by Auroch Digital, a UK team with a history of solid builder titles like Mars Horizon or megaquarium has appeared. Their first first-person shooter is scheduled for release in 2023 for PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X, PS4, PS5 and Switch.
