Hot topics in video games: violence, loot boxes and spoilers

The new episode news cast is ready to get you through Pentecost! But we didn’t really feel like celebrating yet. Instead, Martin, Alex, Melanie and Ana wanted to tackle the controversial topics of video games today: It doesn’t matter whether it’s loot boxes for free-to-play titles or violence in video games: we wanted to know exactly, because there was fodder for these topics week enough. Also, there are a few spoiler alerts when we talk about The Stanley Parable and its Ultra Deluxe Edition. Even though the base game is almost ten years old.

Diablo Immortal was released this week – but not in every country. Belgium and the Netherlands ban loot boxes because it is illegal gambling there. But is the loot box thing with the new Diablo really that bad? And what about this X-ray function in Sniper Elite 5? Seeing a bullet visibly damaging organs through a virtual soldier doesn’t make everyone feel that shooters need to be medically correct. Last but not least, the Ultra Deluxe Edition was released for a real classic: The Stanley Parable inspires with a sophisticated approach and the new edition also makes the leap to ingenious handling of the game and player. We’ll tell you how in the eighth episode.

There are also exciting topics in the Blitz round: Whether our predictions for the State of Play came true?

Which games do you find problematic? And what suggestions do you have for the newscast format? We want to hear your ideas!
