Mega Drive Mini 2: Sega announces new mini console with Mega CD games

Sega today announced a brand new mini-console, the Mega Drive Mini 2, in Japan.

The device will contain a total of 50 games from the Sega Mega Drive and Mega CD, including arcade ports and what Sega calls “mysterious new works”.

Confirmed games for the Mega Drive Mini 2

Sega also directly confirmed some games for the Mega Drive Mini 2 during a Japanese live stream.

The following games are included:

• Silpheed (Mega CD)
• Shining Force CD (Mega CD)
• Sonic CD (Mega CD)
• Mansion of Hidden Souls (Mega CD)
• Popful Mail (Mega CD)
• Virtua Racing (Mega Drive)
• Bonanza Bros (Mega Drive)
• Shining in the Darkness (Mega Drive)
• Thunder Force IV (Mega Drive)
• Magical Taruruto (Mega Drive)

In Japan, the Sega Mega Drive Mini 2 will be released on October 27, 2022 and will cost 9,980 yen (about 71 euros). A western release has not yet been confirmed.

The first Mega Drive Mini was released in 2019 with 42 games, but the titles included differed by region.
