Stray looks like it could add to the PS Plus Extra and Premium lineup as a real highlight of the summer.

PS Plus is getting a new game for July, and that’s the dystopian feline adventure Stray. Sony revealed this yesterday at the State of Play. However, it doesn’t appear to be one of the regular PS Plus bonus games as we know them. Instead, Stray is only available as a subscription at no additional cost if you have subscribed to certain subscription levels of the service.

Stray has one release and is coming to PS Plus for free

Stray coming in July: Actually, Stray was supposed to be released in 2021, but then it was postponed to 2022, but without a fixed date. However, it is now finally certain and we know when Stray will appear: Am July 19th when the time comes, we can sneak through the alleys with the cat in Stray on PS4, PS5 and PC.

Upon release, Stray will be joining the catalog of PS4 and PS5 games that PS Plus Subscribers get Extra and Premium at no extra cost. The standard lineup of extra games for PS Plus Essentials (which is what we were used to before the changeover) will appear to remain unaffected. Don’t fret too much though, you’ll get your bonus titles, just not Stray.

All information about PS Plus: PS Plus has been completely overhauled and divided into three tiers. You can then subscribe to either PS Plus Essential, PS Plus Extra or PS Plus Premium from June. The most expensive tier also gives you access to a variety of classic PS1, PS2 and PS3 games, as well as a wide range of PS4 and PS5 games. You’ll find more about it here:

This is what the game is about: In Stray we play a cat in the post-apocalyptic future. The eponymous stray roams through a city that is apparently only populated by robots who are afraid of cats. We’re dealing with all sorts of puzzles and a really fantastic look.

How excited are you for Stray?
