Rogue Trader: RPG experts develop role-playing game for Warhammer 40k
With Pathfinder: Kingmaker and Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous, the developers at Owlcat Games have created two remarkable role-playing games with a large fan base. The next project should also be an RPG again, but with a Warhammer 40k license.
We recently had a lot of fun with a game set in the Warhammer 40k universe, we mean, of course, Chaos Gate (in the test), which is very reminiscent of XCOM, but also brings some elements of its own. And thanks to the various announcements and trailers of the last few days, it’s clear that the Warhammer 40k license will continue to be milked extensively in the future… um… for new game projects. Let’s just take the newly announced one Retro shooter W40k: Boltgun.
W40k RPG made by roleplaying experts
However, we found another announcement much more exciting. A genuine role-playing game for the Warhammer 40k universe is to come! The name of the game: W40k: Rogue Trader. The development team behind the project: Owlcat Games. These are RPG experts who have been involved with Pathfinder: Kingmaker (under review) and Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous could make a name for themselves.
The new game from Owlcat puts us in the role of the eponymous rogue traders, who travel the entire empire as interstellar traders, but also as conquerors and scouts. The plot takes us to the Koronus Expanse sector in the Halozone and thus to a frontier area that is considered extremely dangerous. And as with the Pathfinder games, the developers want to offer the players the greatest possible freedom of choice and provide them with exciting secondary characters. The newly released trailer gives an impression of Rogue Trader:
