If a lady with an unusual design has gathered a crowd of fans in One Piece, it’s probably Perona in particular. The ghost expert from the Thriller Bark storyline was an opponent of the Straw Hats when they faced the terrible warlord Gecko Moria. But with her Gothic Lolita outfit and an attitude reminiscent of Harley Quinn, Perona won the hearts of many readers and viewers. Her cartoonish round eyes don’t get in the way either. The crown, the playful accessories, the slanting umbrella, the unmistakable hairstyle – that’s Perona as seen in the Thriller Bark arc, i.e. before the time jump! The great colors from the anime have also been captured well in this outfit.
The artist emphasizes in a Reddit commentthat the tinkering of the different props didn’t take long, but about a week. In comparison, the work for Boa Hancock’s snake was much more complex.

One-piece author also gifted Perona post-Thriller Bark appearances as master swordsman Mihawk’s roommate in his sinister Dracula castle.
