Stranger Things: Season 4 finale is set to be extremely emotional

Why is Stranger Things season 4 shown in two parts?

Among other things, Levy revealed that the decision of the split squadron mainly due to the production was hit: “We didn’t think we’d get nine episodes done in time and we’ve kept the world waiting long enough. We always knew if we could deliver the first seven, we’d have such a satisfying breaking point and a paying moment that it keeps people fed for enough weeks for us to finish volume two.”

“Each streaming service is trying different models. We’ve seen entire seasons […] like Stranger Things 1, 2, and 3. We’ve seen Disney Plus and Hulu with a weekly model, but it just didn’t feel right for this. So we’re glad we were able to give our viewers a big portion of the story.”

“But it also gives us enough time to master the landing, ending on a very strong note with the last two episodes and, as you’ve already seen, this season relies on another level of visual effects and world-building . And as you can imagine, Volume 2 is very ambitious with its storytelling and we need a bit more time to finish the season really strong.”
