What makes a game expensive? When choosing the 5 most expensive games on Steam, we naturally looked at the price that can be spent on a game. In addition to individual games, which generally have a high purchase price, this also includes bundles, in-game currency packages and, above all, paid DLCs. But on which game can you get rid of the most money?
5th place: The virtual life in Sims 4 with all DLCs
What is Sims 4? The Sims 4 is the latest installment in the popular The Sims series of games. The titles in the series are so-called life simulations – real life should therefore be simulated. To do this, you build your own four walls with your character, carry out a job and start a family.
How much does The Sims 4 cost? The Sims 4 was released in 2014 and will be available in 2022 for €19.99 (price on Steam). For €3.99 per month, the simulation is even included in Electronic Arts’ subscription service. Sims 4 only gets expensive with the DLCs.
The game now has 55 additional content items already released, with prices ranging from €4.99 to €39.99. In return, you get a range of different themes such as pets, snow holidays and even Star Wars.
The catch with the large amount of DLC of the life simulation is the total price: if you want to buy all 55 add-ons, you have to pay a whopping €919.46! That’s already enough for us to place 5 among the most expensive games on Steam. On June 16, the “Werewolves Gameplay Pack” will also be released, which will cost €19.99.

4th place: Call of Duty Franchise Collection
What is the Call of Duty Franchise Collection? Most of you will be familiar with the popular first-person shooters from the Call of Duty series. Call of Duty is characterized by fast gameplay, different modes and regular updates and new games. Over the years, a franchise has emerged that unites many games and fans.
The Call of Duty Franchise Collection is a bundle that gives you countless CoD games and DLCs. The collection includes games from the very first Call of Duty to World at War, the Black Ops and Modern Warfare series and WW2. A total of 39 items are included in the bundle.
How much does the CoD Franchise Collection cost? Even if CoD: Vanguard is not the latest part of the series in the bundle, the collection still comes to a total price of €930.66.

3rd place: The VR game Ascent makes your floor vibrate
What is Ascent? Ascent Free-Roaming VR Experience – as the full title is – is a VR game from the developer studio Fury Games. In the game you have to free a research facility infested with monsters using force of arms.
The VR title was developed for arcades that rely on VR technology and this is reflected in the equipment you need, ranging from haptic suits to underbody bass shakers to smart plug climate controls.

How much does Ascent cost? The monster adventure Ascent Free-Roaming VR Experience is the most expensive game on Steam and costs €999. For this sum you only get the game. The required hardware, premises, VR equipment or additional content are not included in the price.

2nd place: The Kagura Bundle
What is the Kagura Bundle? Kagura Games is an American video game publisher specializing in the localization and translation of Japanese games into English. Accordingly, the Kagura Bundle includes a number of games from the publisher.
What games does the Kagura Bundle include? The Kagura Bundle contains a total of 86 Japanese indie games. Steam categorizes many of the games as RPGs or JRPGs. Also, many of the games are categorized with the tags Adventure, Anime, and Nudity/Sexual Content. The games or the bundle is therefore not suitable for minors.
How much does the Kagura Bundle cost? The bundle has 86 Japanese games with prices ranging from €8 to €20 per game. Buying the bundle saves you 10% compared to buying all games individually. Nevertheless, the JRPG bundle comes to an incredible total price of €1,072.76.

1st place: The Train Simulator with DLCs for €10,000
What is Train Simulator? The Train Simulator is a simulation game on the subject of train travel. The title, which was already published in 2009, offers an enormous selection of train routes from all over the world. The simulator received this over the years in numerous DLCs – in June 2022 there are 667 additional contents!
Further updates were aimed at the graphics and the performance of the game in order to at least try to keep the Train Simulator reasonably up-to-date in 2022.
How much does the Train Simulator cost? The Train Simulator base game costs €24.99. For another €19.99 you can, for example, take the virtual train from Hamburg to Lübeck if you don’t feel like the crowds that are currently flooding the train stations armed with the €9 ticket and real cities are not that important to you.
If you want to buy all 667 Train Simulator DLCs, be prepared to spend half a fortune. According to our calculations, the 200 top-selling DLCs already cost over €3,000. For all 667 DLCs you will probably have to pay around €10,000.
But as with many simulations, it is also the case with Train Simulator that the player should not buy all the DLCs. Rather, a deliberately large selection is offered so that you can decide which routes you want to explore.
For example, you only buy the routes that are in the region you live in and maybe 2-3 DLCs with interesting routes from all over the world. So you choose routes that are personally interesting for you, instead of buying the sheer mass of DLCs.
