WoW Guide: General information about the Devastation Demon Hunter

In this section you will find the basic information about the Havoc Demon Hunter. We’ll explain the strengths and weaknesses of the offensive demon hunter in raids, dungeons and solo play and compare them to other ways of playing.

What is a Havoc Demon Hunter?

The Devastation Demon Hunter is a highly mobile melee fighter that wears leather armor and attacks its foes with twin bladed glaives. In battle, he sets his opponents on fire with fel magic and even periodically transforms himself into a terrifying demon. The linchpin of the Ravage playstyle is generating Fury, a resource that allows it to cast particularly powerful attacks. In addition to a diverse talent tree and numerous offensive cooldowns, the Havoc Demon Hunter also has several useful defensive and control abilities that he can use to support his fellow combatants.

That changed with Shadowlands

If you create a new demon hunter in WoW: Shadowlands, you will immediately stumble across the first innovation: the glaive swinger starts the Azeroth adventure at level 8. Also new: The Immolation Aura is no longer an exclusive talent of the Devastation Demon Hunters, but is available to all followers of the Demon Hunter Guild from level 10. There’s also a new passive buff, Infinite Hate, which increases your maximum temper to 120, as well as various changes to existing skills and the talent matrix, including the new talents Burning Hate, Glaive Storm, and Unleashed Chaos. The latter talent was adjusted with Patch 9.0.5 and 9.1, but the damage buffs for several attacks of the Ravager that came into play with the penultimate update are much more important.

This is how powerful the Devastation Demon Hunter is in 9.2.5

While the revenge colleagues are among the best tanks in the Shadowlands expansion from launch day, the devastation demon hunter had a hard time at the beginning. The question now is: How positive are the various buffs in Patch 9.1 for the offensive style of play? And what else does the specialization offer? We’ll tell you!

solo
When it comes to questing and farming, there is hardly an opponent that Devastation demon hunters have to fear. Thanks to the good self-healing, your high mobility and the defensive and offensive cooldowns, you can easily take on stronger opponents. If necessary, you briefly switch to vengeance to knock out elite monsters who are harder to hit. Incidentally, in Torghast there are several anima strategies for devastators that allow you to have a lot of fun runs. We are thinking here of the almost infinite and extremely hard ticking firebrand aura or your eye beam, which you can knock out over and over again while you are immune to damage. In combination with your fantastic mobility, you can almost fly through the corridors of the tower.

dungeons

In the mythical dungeons of the Shadowlands, the Ravager is one of the more popular ways to play in patch 9.2. Thanks to his Chaos Brand, spellcasters deal 5 percent more magic damage. In addition, there are various, flexible cooldowns with short cooldown times, the chaos nova area stun, consume magic, interrupt, the emergency darkness, the high mobility and the very good (burst) damage against one or more targets. Compared to last season, however, some other classes are now much more popular.

raid
In the current Raid Mausoleum of the First, the Devastation Demon Hunter continues to cut a pretty decent figure. On the normal level of difficulty, he lands in the middle of the field across all bosses (14th place), it looks a little better on heroic (8th place). On Mythic, the offensive demon hunter hardly excels either. Here he is one of the average strong damage dealers (13th place).

PvP
Very high mobility, good burst damage, control skills, interrupt, dispell – you might think that WoW’s PvP was made for havoc demon hunters. Unfortunately, the windows in which they can deal high damage are quite predictable. They also lost good PvP talents like Manariss with Patch 9.1. It is therefore easier to achieve high ratings with other classes. But you can still have fun with your Devastation Demon Hunter in PvP.
