iOS 16 presented: This is all new

iOS 16 brings the biggest update to your lock screen yet.

Apple presented the upcoming iOS 16 at WWDC 2022 on Monday. The new version of the mobile operating system mainly brings innovations for your lock screen. But the upcoming feature for message recall or the shared iCloud media library could also be interesting.

iOS 16: Customize your lock screen with widgets iCloud Photo Library & Message updates

“iOS 16 is a major release with updates that transform the iPhone experience,” said Craig Federighi, Apple’s senior vice president of software engineering. The upcoming software update brings innovations, especially for the lock screen, which can be personalized more extensively in the future and will be more functional. iOS 16 will also introduce iCloud shared family photo library, updates to Messages and Mail, and improvements to Live Text and Visual Lookup.

iOS 16: Customize lock screen with widgets

iOS 16 offers you new ways to personalize the iPhone lock screen. You can choose between different date and time styles and apply filters to your photos. A new multilayer effect that partially positions people in photos in front of the clock on the lock screen adds a sense of depth. Widgets make your lockscreen even more functional: let appointments, weather, activity rings and more be displayed directly on the lock screen. Live activities keep you up to date with sporting events, training courses or ordered transport and delivery services.
