Dark Souls: Remastered – Official video for the new sound & picture quality

Dark Souls Remastered: Despite having a prequel, Demon’s Souls, Dark Souls is the game that launched the Souls series and ultimately created an entire genre. The mixture of dark art design, mysterious game world, exciting hand-to-hand combat and a high level of difficulty hit a nerve, causing the action role-playing game to quickly develop from an insider tip to a real hit. The motivating progression mechanics with the collection of souls that we can lose on death certainly contributed to the success. The remastered version brings graphical improvements and smooth 60 fps. Also included is the Artorias of the Abyss DLC.

Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin – Current-Gen Reboot In-Game Trailer

Dark Souls 2: Dark Souls 2 received excellent reviews when it was released, but in retrospect it is considered a little bit the black sheep of the series. While the core gameplay was retained from Part 1, there were a few choices in item balancing, progression mechanics, and level design that weren’t well received by all fans. The revised version called Scholar of the First Sin improved some things and changed the placement of some opponents, for example. There is also a new NPC with its own story and a new, alternative ending. Technical improvements such as an increase in the frame rate are also included.

Dark Souls 3 - Test video: The Souls finale is so hard

Dark Souls 3 – Test video: The Souls finale is so hard

Dark Souls 3: The third Dark Souls is technically far superior to parts 1 and 2 and also introduces a few minor improvements in controls and playing comfort. In some respects it is already very similar to the open-world hit Elden Ring, which was released a few months ago, but it still has the typical nested level design of the Souls series with its many hidden shortcuts. The gentle modernization doesn’t change that much in the fact that the level of difficulty is still very high. Still, Dark Souls 3 is relatively accessible due to its higher production quality, so it’s not a bad choice for those new to the series.
