Game Pass without Xbox: Microsoft will bring Smart TV app at the end of the month

The Xbox app is coming to current Samsung TVs in June.

Playing games regardless of the platform: Microsoft has been pursuing this vision for quite some time. Thanks to cloud streaming and mobile linking, Xbox and Game Pass games can now also be played on mobile devices without a console. And by the end of the month there will be another option for those with the appropriate devices. Because as Microsoft just announced, the Xbox app from June 30th also offered for smart TVs.

Important limitation here: The app will initially only be available for devices from the 2022 series from the manufacturer Samsung. However, Microsoft has been in talks with other TV providers for some time, so more are likely to follow in the future.

The Xbox app can free in store can be downloaded, which can be accessed via the dashboard of the Samsung devices. In order to be able to play Game Pass games on the Smart TV without Xbox, you still need the following:

Incidentally, the latter does not have to be an Xbox controller, many other input devices – including the DualSense – should also work. The controller is paired with the television via Bluetooth and after registration you can start right away.

The entire Game Pass catalog should then of course also be available in the app, and Fortnite, which has been available via Cloud Gaming for some time, can even be played without a membership.
