How Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 aims to revolutionize the future of the series

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is expected to represent a revolution or a strategic change for the Call of Duty series when it is released later this year.

According to publisher Activision, all Call of Duty games will be based on the same game engine in the future.

A foundation for all

This is the engine introduced with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, released in 2019.

“In many ways, this will be the most advanced engine ever used for Call of Duty,” says Activision. Which is not really surprising with an advanced and modern engine.

This not only affects the main games in the series, but also the Battle Royale offshoot Call of Duty Warzone, which should benefit from it.

According to the publisher, more than 3,000 employees are now working on Call of Duty.

“Activisions’ goal here is not only to improve the direction of the Modern Warfare franchise and make a significant shift, but also to think much bigger about the overall future of the Call of Duty franchise: an entirely new and shared one Vision for Modern Warfare II and alignment with a brand new Warzone experience. “Based on a common technology and the engine that combines the two in a way that players have never been able to experience before.”

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 will be released on October 28, 2022 for PC, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and PlayStation 4. Call of Duty Warzone 2.0 will be released thereafter and in 2022. A specific date is still pending.

The previous Warzone will be continued separately. You cannot transfer your progress and inventory to Warzone 2.0.
