Dragon Age on Netflix! First trailer - what is Dragon Age: Absolution?

from Matthias Brueckle
The rumors about a Netflix series about Dragon Age are now officially confirmed: “Dragon Age: Absolution” is the name of the animated series that is being created in collaboration with Bioware. The first trailer promises gripping animated action and a brand new story set in the world of Thedas.

Almost a year ago there were only rumors talking about a Netflix series about Dragon Age, but now it has become a pleasant reality! As part of Geeked Week 2022, Netflix and Bioware presented the animated series Dragon Age: Absolution. This animated series will span six episodes and will see a brand new cast of heroes set in the storied world of Thedas. The animation studio responsible, Red Dog Culture House from South Korea, is already familiar with video game implementations: They also spectacularly staged The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf.

Where and when is Dragon Age: Absolution set?

While the trailer shows spectacular fights and intriguing locations, there is still little information about the story. It will definitely be about unknown heroes who haven’t been in the spotlight of the games yet. But Tevinter will definitely serve as the setting – the magic realm that has been mentioned many times in the games and will also be the linchpin of Dragon Age 4 aka Dreadwolf.

Not the first Dragon Age animation project: Do you know the movie Dawn of the Seeker?

Absolution should be close to the Inquisition timeline. Because the makers promise that we will meet “elves, magicians, knights, qunari, red templars, demons and other special surprises”. And due to the story of Dragon Age: Inquisition, Red Templars haven’t been around that long.
