Frost Giant Studios has released a new real-time strategy game with a cinematic trailer called Stormgate announced. The Frost Giant Studios development team consists of many former Blizzard developers who Warcraft and Starcraft have created. They confidently announce that with Stormgate they want to create the next great real-time strategy game in the spirit of Warcraft and Starcraft. The game principle should be based on classic RTS mechanics, but be more accessible than well-known RTS titles thanks to modern comfort and control functions.

The game is set in a sci-fi and fantasy setting, set in a post-apocalyptic world on Earth several hundred years in the future. It should offer at least two parties: the humans and Eternals, an alien faction that claims the earth for itself. The Eternals are said to be responsible for the almost complete annihilation of humans and can enter the earth via formerly inactive portals, the Stormgates. The game aims to offer skirmish and co-op matches that can be played against the AI as well as against other players in a ranked system, the latter also as part of esports events.

The game is powered by Unreal Engine 5 creates and gets an internal editor with which the players should be able to create maps, game modes and much more. The title is currently in the pre-alpha phase. There will be a beta test in mid-2023, for which interested players can already register.

Stormgate will be released on Steam as a free-to-play title for Windows.
