Starfield: How to build your own spaceships and outposts

In Starfield you have the opportunity to create your own spaceships and outposts on your journey. Here you can find out how this works.

Bethesda presented the new Starfield at the Xbox Showcase. The extensive character editor was presented, the settings of which affect the skill tree and much more. The skill and craft system was also shown, which we have also presented to you in more detail.

But the best comes last, because in Starfield you will have the opportunity to create your own outpost to build, maintain and improve and even your own spaceships to create.

This is all so extensive that we would now like to deal with building our own base on one of the more than 1000 planets in Starfield.

Bethesda gives you an extensive one for the construction Outpost Editor at hand, with which you can change and adjust everything as you wish and according to your wishes.

However, for the construction you need certain resources such as aluminum, iron and you have to keep an eye on the “operating costs”. You can build anything from an observation tower to a military room, as long as you have enough system resources to do so.

The outposts then serve as a small home on an alien planet while you are far away from your actual home location.

Each outpost on each planet has different properties and primarily serves to ensure your survival. But also to mine resources and gain more, explore the planet and make unique discoveries. It also serves as a place of protection and retreat in different temperature and weather conditions.

You have complete freedom in creating your outpost, determining where to place the outpost and how you design it.

But that’s not all, and Bethesda is going one step further here, too, because in Starfield you’ll have the opportunity to hire other characters – who you meet in the game – for your outpost so that everything works and the booth stays clean.

An absolute highlight is the possibility that you have your own spaceships can create:

In Starfield’s Spaceship Editor, you also have the option of designing your very own spaceships according to your mood.

The most diverse models can be individually adapted with countless customization options and you even have the option of changing the colors, weapons, shields and much more.

You can also recruit your own crew for your spaceship, for example so that it stays on course or at certain locations.

And even if we repeat ourselves, also when Spaceship editor Bethesda goes one step further, because it’s not just about the looks, but also how the spaceship performs, how it can be controlled and how well equipped it is.

From the engine, shields and weapons to the controls – everything affects your space shuttle.

You will then find out how good your spaceship really is in the end, at the latest when you are in action, because yes damnyou can even fly your own spaceship yourself.

To do this, you simply go from your outpost to your hopefully fully fueled spaceship and simply take off whenever you want and explore the vast worlds and galaxies of Starfield:

No matter how you have decided, your spaceship will differ in numerous attributes and is either small, fast and agile or big and heavy, but armed to the teeth and equipped with huge protective shields.

When exploring the more than 1000 planets and the various galaxies, you will quickly realize that you need different spaceships for different projects.

As you explore the vast worlds of Starfield, you’ll even come across outposts in space. Whether these are probably empty and you can simply take over?

In space, however, you will also meet opponents who must then be eliminated in fast-paced airship battles:

During the fight you can switch from the cockpit perspective to the third-person view to get a better overview of the battle and follow your opponents or master dangerous passages without hitting anything:

Bethesda promises once again that new standards will also be set for the spaceship editor and that you can let your creativity run wild.

Here you can take a closer look at some creations:

Bethesda has also confirmed that it will even be possible to dock at certain outposts in space, which will add further possibilities to the world of Starfield:

Starfield will be released in 2023 and will be playable on Xbox Game Pass from day one.
