Starfield: New gameplay from the Xbox Showcase puts space at the feet of fans

Starfield lives! At the Summer Game Fest Xbox/Bethesda Showcase, Todd Howard debuted gameplay footage from the highly anticipated sci-fi RPG.

Rockville, Maryland – Bethesda has explored a few worlds in its games. Be it sprawling fantasy universes or the post-apocalypse. The last great goal of mankind was missing in the repertoire so far: the universe. That’s exactly what Bethesda wants to unleash on its fans with Starfield, on the endless expanses of space. Bethesda first showed what that will look like at Summer Game Fest, with an all-new gameplay trailer and a hint at the release of Starfield.

Starfield: New Trailer With 15 Minutes Of Gameplay – Big Reveal At Summer Game Fest

When did the trailer come out? At the weekend, Microsoft presented a whole bunch of upcoming games for its console with its showcase at the Summer Game Fest. There was news from Xbox, Activision Blizzard and Bethesda – for the developer studio behind Fallout and The Elder Scrolls it was all about Starfield. Bethesda made its fans wait until the end of the presentation, but for the first time rewarded them with real gameplay material from the sci-fi role-playing game.

What’s in the trailer? Bethesda’s Game Director Todd Howard hosted a 15-minute presentation livestreaming just about everything fans can expect from Starfield. Firefights with space pirates, base building, exploring alien planets, conflicts between multiple factions – it’s all Bethesda through and through. Memories of Skyrim and Fallout 4 quickly come to mind.

Comparisons with No Man’s Sky are also almost unavoidable, given the large number of planets to be explored and the extensive exploration. Parts of the trailer could come 1-to-1 from the Hello Games adventure. That’s why fans affectionately give Starfield the nickname “No Man’s Skyrim“.

Starfield: Release is coming in 2023 – Todd Howard is holding back with exact dates

When is Starfield coming? Towards the end, Todd Howard gave the fans a new intermediate status as to when Starfield should finally appear. The first release date was November 11, 2022, but Bethesda has since postponed it. In the coming year 2023, the great space epic is to come, according to current knowledge in the first half of the year. Starfield’s game director didn’t let himself be carried away to provide more information. Racing game fans, on the other hand, had better luck at the weekend. In the same showcase, the release of Forza Motorsport 8 was finally announced.
