Elden Ring: Secret rune change in patch 1.05 makes leveling easier for us

Many fans have wanted this change since Demon’s Souls.

Almost four months after the release, Elden Ring has received a pleasing Quality of Life improvement. This is hidden in the recently released update 1.05 and is nowhere to be found in the patch notes. 13 years after the release of Demon’s Souls, FromSoftware finally managed to show us the value of certain items.

Now we finally know how much our runes are worth in Elden Ring

Golden Rune, Hero Rune, Numeric Rune? All nice names, but until you consume the item or check its value at a merchant, you won’t know how many runes they’ll bring you. This often results in consuming one of the runes to top up your account for a specific item at a vendor or for the next level up, and either falling short of the desired number or overshooting well.

But wasting runes is finally a thing of the past.

In the item description you can see the rune value.

How to know the value of your runes: The secretly introduced innovation was discovered by Reddit users theheadofjug. And we can confirm: it now actually shows how much a rune yields.

To do this, go to the item in your inventory and activate the description. As you can see on the screenshot, the specific number of runes that you collect when using it is now displayed. So far, this information was probably not mysterious enough for the team.

Here’s what else is new in Elden Ring: Otherwise, update 1.05 primarily takes care of balancing. Both some bosses and various weapons have been adjusted again. In addition, you can now take your sound pearls with you in the New Game+, with which you can expand the item shop in the Round Table.
