Resident Evil 4 Remake gameplay: Get a first look over Leon's shoulder

At Capcom’s nightly showcase, the developer and publisher showed off initial gameplay for the Resident Evil 4 remake, due out March 24 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series.

In the remake, Leon is said to feel even lonelier

“The experience of being attacked by hordes of crazed Ganados is truly an iconic Resident Evil moment,” says director Yasuhiro Anpo, while the gameplay features Leon sneaking through an early section of the game.

“In order to really show off the concept of ‘terrifying people controlled by madness’, the ganados have been completely redesigned,” says Anpo. The area around the section shown is a bit darker than in the original, but the classic shoulder camera remains. The new gameplay starts at minute 58.

Anpo continues: Leon arrives in a dense and dangerous forest. We want to capture the feeling of loneliness and the fear of not knowing what lies ahead even more than in the original. Of course there will also be exciting fights!”

This is also reflected in the gameplay, as after Leon ducks to crawl under some obstacles, he arrives at a house where he is directly attacked.
