August 11, 2023 has now been set as the start date for the film adaptation of director Neill Blomkamp’s (District 9) racing game.

It’s about a teenager who plays Gran Turismo and wins a series of Nissan competitions because of his skills. Eventually he becomes a professional racing driver.

The project is therefore still in an early phase. Screenplay is by Jason Hall, while PlayStation Productions’ Asad Qizilbash and Carter Swan, Doug Belgrade and Dana Brunetti are on board as producers.

According to Deadline, the rumors about a possible TV adaptation of Gran Turismo are not correct.

The latest installment in developer Polyphony Digital’s racing franchise, Gran Turismo 7, was released this year for PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4.
