Half-Life: Alyx - New Levitation Mod with Gameplay Showcase

from Oliver Jaeger
For the VR title Alyx from the Half-Life series, the modding community has developed an extension called “Levitation”, which was shown in a gameplay showcase lasting several minutes during the PC gaming show. Half-Life: Alyx – Levitation continues the storyline of the game and is scheduled for release later this year.

In 2020, Valve conquered the hearts of fans of the franchise with the VR game Half-Life: Alyx, who are still waiting for the ominous third part of the series. While Half-Life: Alyx offers plenty of content, the modding community can never get enough of it, which is why they developed the Levitation mod to add new gameplay elements.

Levitation expands the plot of Half-Life: Alyx

This was presented as part of the PC Gaming Show in an almost eight-minute gameplay showcase. It features combat against creatures and various waves of enemies as the player progresses through the level. A DLC-sized story expansion, Levitation is expected to offer approximately four to five hours of campaign content. Co-creator Corey Laddo explained how levitation fits into the story in an interview with PC Gamer.

“The basic premise is that Alyx receives a distress signal from two Resistance members, Maya and Barry, via secret Combine technology buried in a section of the quarantine zone known as Sector X. With Russell’s help, Alyx dives deep into the… Enter Combine territory to investigate this threat and search for Maya and Barry. It’s a fully self-contained Half-Life adventure that uses the ending of Alyx as a springboard for the narrative.”

Appropriate: Half-Life: Alyx will probably also be released for Playstation VR 2

Also included is G-Man again and plenty of headcrabs, while Gordon Freeman is also credited in the video. The Levitation mod for Half-Life: Alyx is slated for release on Steam later this year. The new gaming experience was announced back in April. Otherwise, the wait for Half-Life 3 will probably go into the next round.
