Stalker 2: How the war in Ukraine affected GSC Game World

The Ukrainian developer studio GSC Game World, explains in a developer diary how the war in Ukraine affected the studio and the development of Stalker 2.

This is the situation at GSC Game World

As recently as February, GSC Game World had its headquarters in Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine. In the meantime, however, the studio has moved to Prague. Unfortunately, not all employees were able to leave the country and continue to work on the game from there.

Other employees have joined volunteer work or the armed forces. These include lead AI developer Dmytro Iassenev, community manager Oleksii Ivanov and narrative designer Maksym Hnatkov. in the video update see more about it.

More news about Stalker 2:

A new trailer for Stalker 2 has also been released in the meantime. GSC Game World shares it with this video description: “The Zone reveals a whole new world! We can stick with the old one for fear of change… but tell me, do you want our descendants to remember us as cowards ?Or as those who dared to walk the path to a new, better humanity?”

But we have to be patient for Stalker 2, because the game will not be released until 2023. It was originally supposed to be released in April of this year and was then postponed to December. But the developer can no longer meet the second date – understandably, given the circumstances.

Since May, work on Stalker 2 is said to have resumed. So the project was idle for two months.
