The Last of Us Part 1: Tess has probably gone through the most dramatic change and we are thrilled

The Last of Us is getting a remake. This also adjusts the character models and gives them a more realistic look that is based on the second part. Tess has perhaps gone through the most dramatic change. The figure now has a much more detailed, realistic, and aged look, which is extremely well received by most fans (and us).

The remake is coming! The Last of Us is re-released as The Last of Us Part 1 for PS5 and PC. The title already suggests it: The game is closer to the sequel The Last of Us Part 2. This includes not only the name, but also the look and the character design. In the new edition, everything looks more realistic and as if made from one piece. The characters are less stylized and more like those from the sequel.

Tess now looks like this: Tess’ character model has also been reworked, and dramatically so. The person now looks much less like a stylized cartoon character. Instead, she finally comes across as a real, realistic woman in her forties, not so much too young as the original. Here you can see the difference very clearly:

A reason to be happy: Most reactions to the changes are very positive. We also notice that Tess looks a bit older, but much more real as a result. Former, more comic-looking Tess on the left looks like she’s 30 at the very most, if ever. The new Tess on the right, on the other hand, just looks really realistic. The facial animations are also much more sophisticated and intense.

Redditor SPCarl91 gets to the heart of the matter and we can only agree:

“I like the old model, but it’s always bothered me how young she looks. In the original, she only looks mid-20s at most. Good to see that they’ve hardened her through the world, aged her and now some added really impressive facial animations.”

Of course, the changes do not only affect Tess, but also Ellie, Joel and many other characters. They all look a bit older and simply more real.

Joel also seems much more realistic now, closer to the second part and a bit older.
