AMD Ryzen 7000: Lineup should again contain four models at the start
The leaker Greymon55 claims to have discovered the AM5 start lineup, which is said to consist of four models with six, eight, twelve and 16 cores. AMD appears to be officially launching its new Zen 4 processors as early as mid-September. This means that the processors would again be available before the new graphics cards, which was already the case with the Zen 3 and RDNA 2. However, AMD also seems to be keeping the model range with which the new processors start similar and again starting the new generation with the more expensive chips.

Zen 3 was presented with the four chips Ryzen 5 5600X, Ryzen 7 5800X, Ryzen 9 5900X and Ryzen 9 5950X 2020. Little by little, cheaper models were added, which have expanded the portfolio to this day and changed the recommendations. According to the leaker Greymon55, something similar seems to be planned for Zen 4. Once again, the market launch should take place with the same SKUs and only later should the cheaper alternatives move up.
The flagship, the Ryzen 9 7950X, is said to have 16 cores, SMT and boost clock speeds of more than 5.5 GHz. The TDP is said to be 170 watts, while the PPT has increased to 230 watts. The price of the chip is expected to remain the same as the 5950X at $799, but there isn’t enough information to make a clear statement about pricing. The Ryzen 9 7900X is intended to succeed the popular Ryzen 9 5900X and once again compete against the fastest Core i7 models with 12 cores and 24 threads. The clock rates are said to be slightly lower than the 7950X and it is not yet clear whether the 12-core will start with a 170 watt TDP or 125 watts. You can expect a price of between 550 and 600 US dollars here.
A Ryzen 7 7800X will hold an interesting position and will have to prove itself against the Ryzen 7 5800X3D with stacked 3D cache. Eight cores and 16 threads are set here and high clock rates are expected. The processor should be priced between 450 and 500 US dollars, which, like the Ryzen 7 5800X initially, would offer the worst price-performance ratio in the lineup. The entry would be the Ryzen 5 7600X, which with six cores and twelve threads at prices of 300 to 350 US dollars could have a difficult time against the cheap Alder Lake Core i5 models.
