Diablo Immortal: "Worst" PC game, but $24 million in revenue as a mobile game

from Benjamin Grundken
According to the user score, the PC version performs catastrophically badly, but the mobile version of Diablo Immortal for Blizzard apparently pays off. Since its launch in early June, it is said to have generated sales of 24 million US dollars.

Like other free-2-play titles, Diablo Immortal or its publisher lives on the income that players generate by buying items and equipment. Blizzard’s latest addition, while highly controversial, doesn’t seem to be a non-starter in terms of revenue. According to Appmagic, Diablo Immortal, which was released on June 2nd, already has sales of 24 million US dollars.

The information is not official, rather it is a question of projections based on publicly available figures from the app stores. Appmagic is considered a relatively reliable source. Only revenue on mobile platforms was considered. The PC version, previously only available as an open beta, does not appear in the equation.

According to Appmagic, the sales break down as follows: 13 million US dollars go to the account of iOS users, eleven million to that of the Android group. Most of the revenue, namely 43 percent or USD 10.3 million, comes from the USA. South Korea follows with 23 percent, Japan with eight, Germany with six and Canada with three percent.

However, only 26 percent of downloads come from the United States and eleven percent from South Korea. Brazil landed here at eight, Japan also and the Federal Republic at seven percent. On average, each player has left about 4.80 US dollars in the Diablo Immortal item shop. As a reminder: Theoretically, up to 100,000 USD can be invested in the complete upgrade of the hero.

Meanwhile, opinion is mixed. While the majority of players on mobile platforms were initially very satisfied, the average rating in the Google Play Store is now higher with 3.6 out of 5 points. Diablo Immortal performs significantly worse among PC gamers: With 0.2 out of 10 possible points at Metacritic, it developed into the worst-rated PC game. Diablo Immortal is currently with 0.3 points only slightly better there.
