Spellforce: Conquest of Eo on Steam - Surprise Strategy Announcement

from Benjamin Grundken
THQ Nordic and Owned by Gravity have surprisingly announced Spellforce: Conquest of Eo. Although the series is actually known for its mix of real-time strategy and role-playing games, it now seems to go in the direction of Heroes of Might & Magic.

Recently the Steam page surprisingly went down for a new part of the Spellforce series on-line. Owned by Gravity is the developer responsible for Spellforce: Conquest of Eo. The developer last appeared as the team behind Fantasy General 2, a revival of 1990’s hex or honeycomb strategy. In fact, Spellforce: Conquest of Eo also seems to be taking a rather unusual direction for the series. The image material so far is more reminiscent of titles such as Heroes of Might & Magic or Master of Magic.

In Conquest of Eo, players build towers and add new rooms to them to define their path as a mage. Players should increase their troops with individual heroes and send them on personal missions. The Steam page continues: “Lead your living and interactive grimoire to reveal new mysteries and spells to you. Create anything you desire from magical runes to artifacts to undead minions. Discover new adventures in each randomly generated one , new campaign.”

Battles are said to take place turn-based on comparatively small maps, with battles lasting ten to 15 minutes. But battles should also be fought in the course of the campaign. The magic tower forms the center of the actual base. As your control radius grows, you gain access to more resources.

It is not yet known when Spellforce: Conquest of Eo will be released. The title is currently in the pre-alpha phase, with the developers expecting the beta phase to start this year. Details may follow on August 12 as part of publisher THQ Nordic’s game showcase. You can find the first screenshots in our picture gallery.

Although there is no exact release yet, the Steam page already mentions system requirements. You are starting with a Core i5-3170K, a Geforce GTX 1050 and eight GiByte RAM. An “Intel i7 Quad-Core”, 16 GiByte RAM and a Geforce RTX 2070 Super are recommended. These are probably preliminary system requirements.
