With his remake of the Korean children’s games from the The Squid Game series hit the nerve of the times with Youtuber and philanthropist Jimmy “MrBeast” Donaldson. Hwang Dong-hyuk’s Squid Game was a massive hit on Netflix at the time, and the relatively timely video released by MrBeast featured a re-enactment of the Squid Game games and a nearly $500,000 win for one of the players within one A whopping 130 million views last week – and has since reached 260 million views.
None of the MrBeast videos of the past year could reach this mark. The fans were curious to see if this success could be repeated … the topic was itself Donaldson this time Willy Wonka’s chocolate factory chosen to match his new investment in chocolate bars. The set was arguably his biggest yet – but is MrBeast’s video “biggest” yet?
Wonka can’t hold a candle to Squid Game
Although Jimmy Donaldson and his people never tired of teasing the Chocolate Factory video, the successful Youtuber couldn’t repeat his groundbreaking Squid Game success. As already mentioned, this probably has to do with the fact that Squid Game was on everyone’s lips at the time, while the film Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, on which the factory set is based, is more than 50 years old.
The topic is correspondingly little viral. In the two weeks since publication, MrBeast’s chocolate factory has “only” amassed 67 million views. Nevertheless, the video is of course worth watching for all those who like MrBeast’s challenges, which this time he confronts ten participants in the competition.
Small spoiler: In the end, the winner didn’t take over the chocolate factory, but sold it to Donaldson for $500,000 – who presumably scrapped it fairly quickly. He said the factory was home to a million flies, the flow of chocolate would break up and the candy would go bad.

Of course, the appearance of guest star Gordon Ramsay is inevitably funny. Donaldson summons him at the end to evaluate the desserts of the three remaining contestants. Squid Game 2 by MrBeast for the 2nd season of the series?
Let’s make it clear: the success of the chocolate factory is limited. How about a second Squid Game video then? Of course, it’s questionable whether the second season of Hwang Dong-hyuk’s series will attract as many viewers as the first – after the series was actually only designed for one season, according to the creator.
However, Jimmy Donaldson insists on responding to the official Netflix announcement of Squid Game 2 – he wishes that the games would be easier to implement in real life to a certain extent XD Accordingly, it is hoped that Donaldson’s next big project might break all records again.
