Sunbreak expands Monster Hunter Rise with a new area: From the knight Fiorayne we are taken across the sea to a faraway kingdom that is threatened by the dragon elder Malzeno. Our new base is Elgado Outpost, where we help Fiorayne research the threat. Here we also get to know other new characters, such as Admiral Galleus, the leader of the royal order, or Chichae, who works as a receptionist but is in fact much more. You can take some of the NPCs with you on certain quests. With the citadel there is also a diverse new hunting ground that offers forest, swamps, ice landscapes and a huge castle ruin.

Lunagaron is one of the new big monsters and also one of the Three Lords that we have to take on.

Of course, there will also be a whole host of new monsters in Sunbreak. Most important among the large monsters are the so-called Three Lords: Malzeno, Garangolm and Lunagaron. Garangolm looks like a gorilla and can deal both fire and water damage with its huge fists. The fanged wyvern Lunagaron resembles a werewolf, his element is ice. The already mentioned dragon elder Malzeno, on the other hand, is said to have vampiric abilities and suck the life energy out of his victims, so his design is correspondingly gloomy. In addition, there will of course be other small and large monsters, and a few favorites from earlier parts will return, such as the crab-like Shogun Ceanataur.

Monster Hunter: Rise – Sunbreak – Finally Endgame

It is a tradition in the Monster Hunter series that the highest rank and thus the actual endgame is not unlocked directly at the time of release in the main game, but only later with an extended version or an add-on. It’s the same in this case: the Sunbreak expansion brings the new master rank into play. This makes for even stronger monsters, which in turn bring new and better material that can be used for better equipment. The motivating prey hunt is thus entering a whole new round.

Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak not only delivers new monsters, but also new ways to fight them.

There are also innovations in terms of game mechanics, such as tools such as new rope beetles: the ruby rope beetle, for example, ensures that we do more damage to monsters, and the gold rope beetle allows us to get more gold. There’s also a new spider that we can use to pull monsters towards us, allowing them to crash into walls. Also, with the new Swap Art Swap, you can quickly switch between Swap Art sets to adapt your tactics to the situation, and with the new Swap Dodge, you can quickly escape from monsters. This makes the fights even more dynamic.
