DICE has "no time" for projects like Mirror's Edge, says the new studio boss

According to Rebecka Coutaz, the new studio head of DICE, the development team currently has “no time” to tackle other projects à la Mirror’s Edge besides Battlefield.

Coutaz has been DICE’s new studio boss since November 2021 and has now given her first interviews, for example with GamesIndustry.

No time for other things

In it, she was asked if other projects like Mirror’s Edge are just off the table: “Absolutely,” she says. “We’re just focused on Battlefield 2042. We don’t have time for anything else and that’s what we want to do. In three years time, we want to be the first-person shooter powerhouse that DICE deserves, and that’s what we do strive.”

After the disappointing launch of Battlefield 2042, we’ve already spent more than six months fixing problems and improving the game. The start of the first season has also been postponed to this month. According to Coutaz, they received “good feedback”.

More Battlefield 2042 news:

“Players are enjoying our map and the content we’ve provided, so it’s a win for us and makes us feel better. The team is here to make Battlefield and they’re passionate about Battlefield. We have many Battlefield experts in our ranks, so it’s important for us to improve Battlefield 2042 and the experience we’re able to offer our players, and we owe it to them.”

According to EA, there will be four seasons of new content for Battlefield 2042 within a year.

This month it was said that only a small team was working on the further development of Battlefield 2042, which the publisher denied.
