Nintendo Switch Online: The app will soon no longer work on old Apple phones
Are you still using the Nintendo Switch Online app on an old Apple smartphone? Then you should be aware that you may soon no longer be able to use the app.
Support for iOS 13 will end in the summer
As the iOS version of the app will be updated this summer, support for all devices using iOS 13 or lower will be dropped. Only smartphones from Apple with iOS version 14.0 or higher will then have access to the Switch online app.
At least that’s what a tweet from the Nintendo Japan account says:
2022 年夏 に 版 版 『『 Nintendo Switch Online 』アップデート を です です。。 アップデート アップデート 動作「 os 14.0 以降 変更 変更 変更 し し
「iOSバージョン13以前」の端末ではアプリがご利用いただけなくなりますので、ご注意くい。。 https://t.co/8MAqv91nHe

Anyone who still owns an iPhone 6s that is now seven years old belongs to the group of all players who can continue to use the Nintendo app.
The benefits of the Switch online app
So what features are users with older smartphones missing out on? The app allows players to use voice chat and special features in games like Splatoon 2, Super Smash Bros Ultimate, Animal Crossing: New Horizons and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.
The update will also affect upcoming games such as Splatoon 3.
