Sifu with a real beating: Streamer Rudeism fights with his own motion controller

In the fighting game Sifu, you slip into the role of a kung fu student who takes on numerous opponents on the hunt for revenge. The streamer Rudeism made this experience even more realistic: he fought his way through the virtual city with a home-made motion controller and real combat moves.

Rudeism is a well-known gamer modder and hobbyist from New Zealand, who is particularly known for fun controller constructions or challenging gameplays – whether Hades with a pomegranate or Dark Souls 3 with just one button.

Now he’s grabbed the kung fu indie game Sifu and transformed it into a “real” fighting experience, with motion controls. He wears two gloves with motion sensors and a stick in each hand, which are mainly used for movement and non-combat actions.

Different hits also trigger different attacks or parade actions. Picking up objects or interacting with the environment is done with a click on the sticks. “Rude”, as many in his community call him, started his stream just 30 minutes after the completion of his new controller and therefore had to get used to it.

More news about Sifu:

There could also be some fine-tuning, because for the time being the motion controller can only keep up well in Sifu’s simple mode. In the more difficult modes – and they can get really crisp with Sifu – the controller probably wouldn’t keep up, but still! In easy mode, the whole thing works really well.

In any case, watching Rude’s enthusiasm and fun with his own controller is pure joy and just looks like it was made for the fighting game. The motion version of Sifu is certainly also quite exhausting and sporty.
