Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4 was once planned, says Tony Hawk

According to legendary skater Tony Hawk, there were plans for a Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4, a sequel to the Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 re-release.

However, these plans were abandoned after the Vicarious Visions development studio responsible for Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1+2 was integrated into Blizzard.

No hope for skaters?

As a result, Vicarious Visions was renamed Blizzard Albany and will be helping out as a support studio for the Diablo franchise and other Blizzard games.

Hawk talked about plans for Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3+4 during a Twitch Live Streams.

“That was the plan,” he said. “Pending the release of [1+2]. We wanted to do 3+4 and then Vicarious kind of got absorbed. They looked for other developers, but then it was over.”

“She [Activision] were actually… the truth is they tried to find someone to do 3 and 4 but they just didn’t trust anyone like Vicarious did. So they got other offers from other studios: ‘What would you do with the THPS titles?’ They didn’t like anything they heard. And that was it.”

“I wish there was a way to bring it back. I mean, who knows – when all the dust settles, maybe we’ll get it back together. You never know. I never thought that 20 years later we’d be 1 and again 2 would do…”
