CoD is supposed to get a completely new mode with Modern Warfare 2 – it probably copies Warzone’s recipe for success

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is scheduled to be released in October, but as a well-known leaker has now reported, a new mode will not be included at the time and will only be released in 2023 based on the Warzone model.

What mode is it? Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) will be a mode in Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, which aims to build on the principle of Escape from Tarkov – the new shooter genre EFT-Like.

In EFT-Like games or Extraction Shooters you have to extract the equipment collected during a match from the map. If you die, you lose everything your character is carrying.

Warzone’s recipe for success

What does Warzone’s DMZ mode copy? Warzone is not only a “Battle Royal” mode in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, but also appeared as a free-to-play standalone game.

Like the leaker @RalphsValve on Twitter and the online magazine WhatIfGaming.com recently reported, the new MW2 mode Demilitarized Zone, like Warzone before it, is also set to be released as a standalone Free-To-Play game.

The mode, which is supposed to have the same gameplay as Escape from Tarkov, is apparently based on the recipe for success of the popular Battle Royale and franchise model. Also, Demilitarized Zone is known to appear in CoD: Modern Warfare 2 instead of a zombie mode.

Furthermore, Demilitarized Zone should not be part of the new CoD in October. While Modern Warfare 2 is scheduled for release on October 28, 2022, @RalphsValve says the new mode won’t appear until 2023.
