Steam: NecroCity combines city building with tower defense and a dark setting

from Jonathan Harsh
Another potential surprise hit has surfaced on Steam. Anyone who likes real-time strategy, building simulations and tower defense, and maybe still has a soft spot for Gothic Horror, should love NecroCity.

A new day, a new game on Steam that catches our attention. Today we conjure up the magical NecroCity, a genre mix of real-time strategy, building simulation and tower defense. At the beginning of a game, a city must be built from scratch, and the player is responsible for the process as governor. In order to finance the new metropolis (or rather necropolis), resources must of course be procured. These are used to build and upgrade roads, buildings and traps.

That’s why NecroCity makes a really good impression

Of course, NecroCity is regularly attacked by enemy troops. To ward them off, various obstacles such as spike traps and circular saws can be set up. Thus, the gameplay is reminiscent of a tower defense game. However, there is also an active combat system – the governor can also counterattack.

In addition to the varied gameplay, the setting is particularly positive, because NecroCity is not ruled and inhabited by humans, but by the undead:

In NecroCity you will meet skeletons, werewolves, goblins, zombies, ghosts and other ugly monsters. NecroCity [liegt] in a secret land whose inhabitants are divided into two basic classes: humans and monsters. In the game you take on the role of the governor of a dark city.

Other new games on Steam:

Unfortunately, NecroCity does not have a release date yet. But the game can now be played on the Steam Wishlist packed and comes to launch at a discount. By the way, the Steam Summer Sale starts today at 7 p.m. Included are highlights such as V Rising, It Takes Two, Dying Light 2, God of War, Cyberpunk 2077, GTA 5, Red Dead Redemption 2, Forza Horizon 5 and Ghostwire Toyko.
