Diablo Immortal: It came as it had to come – bots dominate Free2Play
The new mobile game Diablo Immortal from Blizzard still has a difficult time in the community due to the supposed Pay2Win. Now there appears to be another problem. Free2Play is increasingly being overrun by bots that not only farm, but also dominate the chat.
Whenever a new Free2Play game comes out these days, you can be very sure of two things. Players will keep a close eye on the in-game shop and as soon as it becomes apparent that there are enough players, whole hosts of bots will swarm into the game and farm like crazy. Because where there are many players, there are always those who want to buy gold, armor or whatever resources.
Diablo Immortal has screwed up the first thing with flying colors in the past few weeks. Anyone who delved a little deeper into the in-game shop and the system behind it came to the conclusion that monetization has strong traits from Pay2Win. However narrowly or broadly one defines this term, there is no denying that money can give one a significant advantage over others. But the topic is slowly fading away and the second thing is already coming into focus. Diablo Immortal is getting a bot issue.
Bots are flooding Diablo Immortal
If you currently want to grind at popular farm spots, you will find it difficult to find a spot depending on the server. Because in many places more and more characters appear who stand around 24 hours a day and knock out the rapidly spawning enemies over and over again. The bots are not only easily recognizable by their often very clear names. Also the fact that they cast one and the same attack at very regular intervals, whether opponents are there or not speaks strongly for automated bot programs.
On reddit are now piling up the videos and reports from “Bots in Action” and the chat channels are also increasingly being taken over by the operators and other boosting services. This development will come as little surprise to those who frequently play Free2Play games. Therefore, one can assume that Blizzard also expected it. So far, however, nothing has been done about it – or at least nothing obvious.
In Diablo 2 Resurrected, huge amounts of bots are being taken out of circulation in waves and in Lost Ark the number of players has more than halved since the last action of this kind. So it’s entirely possible that Blizzard is already collecting a lot of data in the background and we’ll see the big mace soon. Let’s hope that’s not in the too distant future.
