Cyberpunk 2077: Mod brings AMD’s FSR 2.0 into play

FSR 1.0

from Valentin Sattler
A mod brings AMD’s FSR 2.0 to Cyberpunk 207 and promises significantly better upscaling results than the previously supported FSR 1.0.

As far as modern graphics features are concerned, Cyberpunk 2077 actually supports the full package: ray tracing and DLSS were already available at launch, and support for variable rate shading and AMD’s upscaling technology Fidelity FX Super Resolution (FSR) followed with Patch 1.5 in February . At that time, however, “only” support for AMD’s FSR 1.0 was added, since the newer and significantly improved version, FSR 2.0, was only released three months later.

FSR 2.0 for Cyberpunk 2077

A future update from CD Projekt Red is likely to bring FSR 2.0 to Cyberpunk 2077 as well, but at least for the moment the game is still stuck on version 1.0 – if you don’t help yourself. This in turn is apparently possible through a mod published on Nexus Mods.

FSR 1.0 FSR 2.0

The mod was simply named “FidelityFx Super Resolution 2.0” and it does exactly what the name suggests: it adds support for FSR 2.0 to the game. To install it, you need to move three DLL files into the installation folder and run a program. This will cause Nvidia’s DLSS to use FSR 2.0 installed, so you can now select “DLSS” in the graphics menu and use FSR 2.0.

Since FSR 2.0 leads to significantly better results than the previous version, installing the mod should in principle be worthwhile for all AMD users. According to the developer of the mod, PotatoOfDoom1337, FSR 2.0 even runs on the Steam Deck, which is likely to need the performance boost. Since this is not an official implementation, caution is advised during installation – as is always the case with mods. Bugs and glitches cannot be ruled out. If you don’t want to risk anything here, you should rather wait for an update, the Cyberpunk 2077 officially supplemented by FSR 2.0.
