Netflix and Co.: Our streaming tips for July 2022
In July 2022, Netflix is definitely going after viewers’ time. The streaming service is bringing 40 new titles to its platform, including many of its own productions, such as the Resident Evil series (July 14), but also purchased titles such as Shutter Island (July 1). The competition is taking it easy in the summer.
Disney+ will mainly show well-known titles, such as the Sony Spider-Man films and Venom (from July 1), all seasons of American Horror Story (July 6) and the Asterix cartoons (July 15). Wow, formerly of Sky Ticket, is also getting in on the superhero hype, showing Spider-Man: No Way Home (July 8). If you want to see Marvel superhero Chris Pratt in a completely different role, you have the opportunity with the thriller series The Terminal List (July 1 / Amazon Prime). We are also particularly excited about the following titles!
Stranger Things, Season 4B (July 1 / Netflix)

After the first part left the audience with a nasty cliffhanger, the finale of the fourth season of Stranger Things should answer many questions: What is villain Vecna up to? Does one of the heroes actually die? And does Netflix plan to carry the hype surrounding Stranger Things through the summer with two feature-length final episodes?
Incantation (July 8 / Netflix)
Creepy ghosts, death curses and their victims shaped Asian horror cinema mainly in the 2000s. Now the Taiwanese production Incantation wants to gain something new from the genre. Six years ago, Li Ronan broke a taboo and took on a terrible curse. Before this passes to her daughter, she wants to put an end to the spook.
Bob’s Burgers, the Movie (July 13 / Disney+)
Very much in the style of The Simpsons or Family Guy, but somehow nicer, is Bob’s Burgers. In the series, the Belcher family tries hard to keep a burger joint running. The concept is a hit, so it was only a matter of time before Bob Belcher and his family would star in their own movie. In the USA it actually came to the cinemas, here it can be seen as a stream almost a month later.
The Gray Man (July 22 / Netflix)
It is the most expensive Netflix film of all time and just under a week after its theatrical release, it can already be seen as a stream: The Gray Man is about Court Gentry (Ryan Gosling), a cold-blooded hitman who becomes a target himself. Above all, his ex-colleague Lloyd Hansen (Chris Evans) wants to get his hands on him. This action thriller is directed by brothers Joe and Anthony Russo of Avengers: Infinity Wars and Endgame.
Paper Girls (July 27 / Amazon Prime)
The Boys and Invincible have shown that Amazon has a knack for superhero series that cater more to adult audiences. The adaptation of the comic series Paper Girls should be another success. The award-winning graphic novel is about four girls who only want to deliver newspapers and get caught up in a time traveler war. Your biggest opponents are yourself.
